Kasia is a program which allows you to play a game of chess with another person over any TCP/IP connection (e.g. The Internet, or a local network.) It offers trouble-free play over the poorest of connections, integrates with ICQ, and supports standard PGN & FEN notations.
Choose from a number of built-in board and piece styles, or create your own.
Update:
Kasia runs well on Linux using recent versions of Wine - no Windows installation or DLLs needed. [Note: I will not, however, provide wine-related support owing to time pressures]
Quick Guide for SuSE 9.0:
Install the wine package
Run winesetup script, go for 'fake windows' install
Run wine_set_default_reg script
Install Kasia with wine Kasia-files.exe
Run Kasia with wine "C:/Program Files/Kasia/kasia.exe"
What's new in 2.2.1:
Add shortcut keys for more functions.
When the clocks are set to "no time limit", they count up to show elapsed time.
Fixed bug whereby last move highlighting persisted too long when you made a capture.

Latest version:

Kasia version 2.2.1 (29th Mar 2003)
